Avoriaz is a cliff-top haven for snow lovers, situated in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest ski areas in France. With its high altitude location and ski-in/ski-out accommodation, it’s a top choice for families, snowboarders, and those seeking convenience on the slopes.
Beginners: Free lifts at the resort centre give first-timers an easy place to practise. Once the basics click, move to the wide greens above the Proclou chair, the gradients are mild and the snow is usually soft. Friendly instructors and plenty of cafés close by make family starts straightforward.
Intermediates: Blue and red pistes spread like a spider’s web from Avoriaz into the vast Portes du Soleil. Cruise the tree-lined blues of Lindarets in the morning, then cross to the Hauts-Forts sector for longer reds back to town. You can be in Switzerland by lunchtime and home before dark, all on snow.
Advanced & off-piste: The infamous Swiss Wall (Chavanette) is the headline challenge, an ungroomed, often mogul-filled black that drops into Champéry. Steep blacks on Hauts-Forts and hidden gullies on Fornet keep experts busy, and a guide will show you powder stashes around Les Hauts Forts and Les Crosets.
Snowboarding: Five parks keep riders entertained. The Stash is the star: a wooded freestyle run built from natural logs with lines for all levels. Younger shredders can start in Lil’ Stash, while the main Arare and Chapelle parks offer larger jumps, rails and airbags. Wide pistes and few drag lifts make cruising easy, too.
Avoriaz is a family friendly resort with many accommodations conveniently located close to the ski lifts. The Village des Enfants provides the perfect environment for young learners, complete with gentle lifts and a mini snow park. Off the slopes, Aquariaz, the tropical themed indoor water park, is a hit with children, offering slides, rapids, and a hot tub. The car free streets make the resort safe for families, with horse-drawn carriages offering scenic transportation around the village.
Snow activities: Cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoe walking, paragliding, ski touring, sleigh rides.
Non-skiing activities: Cinema, bowling, leisure centre, swimming pool with spa, horse-drawn carriage rides.
In Avoriaz, you'll find approximately 22 restaurants spanning various categories. From quaint, family operated French diners serving quality meals at affordable prices to a range of international dining options. Among the most popular restaurant you have: Les Fontaines Blanches, La Réserve, L'Etage ou Les Enfants Terribles
Avoriaz offers a lively après-ski scene, with options to ski directly to several bars. Popular spots like La Brasserie and Chez Flo feature live music and sun terraces, making them perfect for enjoying a late afternoon drink. Thanks to the slopeside accommodation, you can easily pop back to your apartment before heading out for more fun. The pedestrianised resort centre also ensures a hassle-free evening out, with plenty of bars and clubs to explore.

I usually book flights, transfers, hotel, ski rental and lift passes myself but this year used WeSki for a trip to Morzine. It was so much easier. Everything worked perfectly - transfers arrived on time and there was plenty of feedback throughout the whole process giving you confidence the holiday would go smoothly.
A really useful service that is so much easier to use than other ‘all-inclusive’ sites. It nicely bridges the gap between a travel agent and booking the trip yourself online. I will use WeSki every time I go skiing from now on.
We booked a late minute skiing trip to Morzine through we ski. We looked at booking the trip ourselves but could get anywhere near the price quoted by we ski. The company was excellent and we had no problems at all from start to finish. I would definitely use them to book another weekend skiing trip.
Seamless experience from start to finish. I was spending ages trying to sort out a weekend break and managed to do it with we ski in minutes and for the same price as booking it all up yourself. Flight, transfer and accommodation was all as expected and faultless.
